As an independent educational initiative of the Bavarian construction industry, the Oskar von Miller Forum supports the university education of civil engineers and architects at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), as well as the students from higher level trade schools in the construction industry at Munich’s Municipal Technical College of Structural Engineering (Städtische Fachschule für Bautechnik). Oskar von Miller gives new stimulus to the training of young engineers in the architecture and civil engineering faculties of the TUM and supports them
• in their pursuit of excellence in terms of a qualification that is both rooted in tradition and at the same time future-oriented
• in preparing them for an international and interdisciplinary working environment and so enhancing their future career opportunities
• in fostering social competence and equipping them for interdisciplinary projects with socio-political, economic, ecological and ethical overlap.
The programme of the Oskar von Miller Forum is committed to the university education of engineers in the construction field in their pursuit of excellence and versatility. Starting from the traditional profession of architect, which covers all construction-related occupations, the project aims to bridge the gap between the professions of construction engineer and surveyor, architect and artisan.
Daily life at the Oskar von Miller Forum is guided by the dedication and mature approach of its visiting students. In the Oskar von Miller community visiting students cultivate initiative, teamwork abilities and social skills and build interdisciplinary, international networks that enrich the university education of civil engineers at the Technical University of Munich. The Oskar von Miller Forum offers visiting students and academics an attractive residence close to the university.
