Mjøstårnet 85 m Timber ­Building in Norway

Rune Abrahamsen, CEO of Moelven Limtre AS, Norway’s largest producer of glued laminated timber, provided exciting insights into the design and construction processes of a world-record timber building in his lecture.Mjøstårnet is an 85-metre-tall mixed-use timber building in Brumunddal, Norway. Completed in March 2019, it was officially verified as the world’s tallest timber building by the CTBUH (Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat). The main load-bearing structure consists of large-scale glulam trusses along the façades as well as internal columns and beams.

In his lecture, Rune Abrahamsen said, “It’s really inspiring to see the mas­sive interest for this building worldwide. There is a great demand for sustainable solutions for the future, and Mjøstårnet is now the world’s tallest showcase for just that.”
